About this wine
Trutta Streamside Shiraz 2025 is a small-batch, minimal-intervention red wine made by Trutta Wines, an artisanal Victorian producer whose ethos blends approachable drinkability with thoughtful winemaking. Designed as a fun, “ultimate fly-fishing wine,” it’s light in body and vibrant in fruit, with refreshing structure that invites serving chilled on warm days.
Grape varieties & region
Shiraz (≈50%) — the backbone of the blend with bright red berry and spice character.
Cabernet Franc (≈25%) & Cabernet Sauvignon (≈25%) — early-picked for freshness and acidity, adding herbal lift and structure.Region: Harcourt North (within the Bendigo GI, Central Victoria, Australia) — a cooler-climate part of central Victoria with well-drained sandy granitic soils that lend freshness and minerality to the fruit.
Tasting notes
Pale ruby and light in body, this wine offers bright red-fruit aromatics — raspberry, strawberry, and sour cherry — with hints of blood orange, spice, and a touch of herbal lift. The palate is juicy and vibrant with lively acidity, fine structure, and a refreshing, drink-anywhere finish.
Style & winemaking
Made using a natural, minimal-intervention philosophy, the Shiraz component undergoes carbonic maceration (whole bunches covered with CO₂ for ~12 days), followed by gentle foot-pigeage and overnight maceration. The wine is then pressed into stainless steel and left over winter before blending in spring with direct-press Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, also raised in stainless. The result is a bright, low-impact, chillable red with purity of fruit and energy.
Food pairing
Pairs beautifully with:
Barbecued sausages, skewers, and burgers
Picnic fare: prosciutto, olives, crunchy bread
Light Asian dishes with herbs and citrus
Salmon or tuna tartare

We farm a small vineyard in Harcourt North, Central Victoria. Harcourt is a cooler pocket located inside the Bendigo GI, and our vineyard sits up high above the Harcourt Valley on a granitic ridge running to north westerly of Mount Alexander. The vineyard sits at approx 500m ASL and is one of the highest (and probably coolest) vineyards in the Bendigo GI. The vineyard soils are composed of granitic slabs and boulders, interspersed with sandy decomposed granite. We have been farming this vineyard ourselves for a few years now, using organic practices.
