Athletes of Wine began in 2007 with Matt Brooke and Liam O'Brien, who met in 2004 while working at Circa, the Prince. Inspired by their sommelier training and a shared passion for wine, they took over a small Pinot Noir vineyard in the Macedon Ranges, later adding Chardonnay vines in 2012. The name was drawn from a quote in Samuel Pepys' diary, reflecting their dedication. Focused on low yields, wild yeast, minimal intervention, and traditional techniques, their wines are elegant, structured, and age-worthy.
