About this wine
Jean‑Yves Péron “I Vicini” Cortese 2021 is a small‑batch, minimal‑intervention white made from 100% Cortese grapes sourced from Piedmont in northern Italy and vinified by natural winemaker Jean‑Yves Péron in Savoie, France as part of his I Vicini négociant series. This wine showcases fresh fruit, minerality, and textural complexity, with a skin‑crested, engaging profile that reflects Péron’s low‑intervention philosophy.
Tasting notes
Light‑ to medium‑bodied with aromas of citrus blossom, lemon zest, green apple, and floral hints. The palate is crisp and vibrant, featuring bright acidity and saline minerality that lead to a clean, refreshing finish that’s both food‑friendly and expressive.
Style & winemaking
Produced using low‑intervention, traditional methods, the grapes undergo extended skin contact (~2 weeks) and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in neutral oak or large vessels. The wine is bottled unfiltered and with minimal additions, preserving freshness, texture, and purity of fruit.
Food pairing
Pairs beautifully with:
Fresh seafood and shellfish
Citrus‑dressed salads and grilled vegetables
Light pasta or risotto dishes
Soft cheeses and antipasti

Jean Yves-Peron 'I Vicini' Cortese 2021
Cortese
Biodynamic, No preservatives, and Unfined/Unfiltered
Field blend of many different grape varieties including Grüner Veltliner, Scheurebe, Weissburgunder, Neuburger, Welschriesling and many more. Handpicked, 3-4 days of maceration, then pressed and naturally fermented in old barrels, ageing about 6 months on the lees. The vineyard where the grapes come from is officially named 'Fürstliches Prädium' but people in Gols have been calling it 'Korea“ since the 1950s.
The Judith Beck winery is a 15 hectare estate in Gols in Austria’s Burgenland. They have been farming biodynamically since 2007.
They use their own natural composts and cultivate grass between the rows. Herbal remedies are also used and the vines are maintained following the rhythms of the moon and biodynamic calender. They don’t use any inoculated yeasts of any kind, they minimise sulphur, fining and filtration. The Bambule range which is all zero sulphur and certified biodynamic, epitomises this philosophy.
