Alles Klar 'Reserva' Lambrusco 2022
Alles Klar Reserva Lambrusco is a bold, natural-style Australian Lambrusco made in the Riverland region of South Australia. It’s part of the winery’s lo-fi, minimal-intervention lineup focused on alternative grape varieties and expressive winemaking. The name “Alles Klar” translates roughly from German as “all clear” or “all good.”
The 2022 Reserva Lambrusco is quite different from the sweet, fizzy Lambruscos many people associate with the style. According to the producer:
it’s “deep, brooding and powerful,”
made wild and unfiltered,
spent 12 weeks on skins,
10 months in barrel,
and another 12 months evolving in bottle.
What it tastes like
This wine leans toward a more serious, textural natural red wine style:
dark cherry and blackberry fruit,
earthy and herbal notes,
vibrant acidity,
savoury tannins,
and a slightly wild, funky edge from the minimal-intervention approach.
Because of the long skin contact and barrel ageing, it likely has more structure and grip than classic easy-drinking Lambrusco.
Style
Unlike traditional sparkling Lambrusco:
this version appears lightly sparkling or possibly still,
dry rather than sweet,
and more focused on texture and savoury complexity.
It sits closer to contemporary Australian natural wine culture than classic Emilia-Romagna Lambrusco traditions.
Winery Philosophy
The winery emphasizes:
sustainable vineyards,
minimal-intervention (“lo-fi”) winemaking,
natural fruit expression,
and vibrant, living wines.
Food Pairings
This style would work especially well with:
charcuterie,
wood-fired pizza,
grilled mushrooms,
rich pasta dishes,
smoky barbecue,
or aged cheeses.
It’s also probably best served slightly chilled.
"Alles Klar" is a project by the owners of the Australian beer retailer Carwyn Cellars, Ben Carwyn and Ben Duval, who started making vibrant and fruity wines with a focus on natural, lo-fi winemaking techniques. The name translates to "all clear" or "all good," and the wines are crafted to be enjoyed young.
