La Chaume des Lies was founded in 2021 by Margaux Rivaux and Lothar Galloo, a couple who met in 2018 while working for Pierre Fenals at Maison en Belles Lies. Margaux had already worked in wine and had been learning biodynamic farming with Pierre since 2016, while Lothar studied wine and gained experience in organic farming, as well as working with Bruno Schueller in Alsace and Didier Barral in the Languedoc. With this wealth of experience, they decided to launch their own domaine, producing an impressive first vintage in 2021, with future releases expanding to include Saint-Aubin, Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Coteaux Bourguignons.
