Born and raised in the Netherlands, Bertjan Mol discovered natural wine on a trip to France in 1999, inspiring him to launch Bruutwijn, one of the Netherlands’ first natural wine importers. Years later, Bert and his wife Nicole decided to make wine themselves, taking over part of Bruno Allion’s Domaine in the Loire when he retired. Moving with their family in 2017, they began working the vineyards with Bruno’s guidance, producing their first solo vintage in 2018. They continue his philosophy of working as naturally as possible, with biodynamic farming and a hands-off approach in the cellar. The wines ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, receive no additives or SO₂, and are neither fined nor filtered, resulting in pure, vibrant expressions of their terroir and each vintage.
