Single vineyard handpicked. They did a heap of small wild ferments, some with tons of whole-bunches, some without. Some got pressed early, and others they left on skins for a bit longer, and one fully carbonic 100% whole bunch portion. Each got pressed separately and into 2-4th fill Burgundian French Oak for close to a year.

“Somos, meaning ‘we are’ in Spanish, is the brainchild of two winemakers: Mauricio Ruiz Cantú and Benjamin Caldwell. They represent new McLaren Vale, as expressed through a kaleidoscope of alternative varieties, styles and intriguing flavours. The pair work primarily with less-known Italian and Spanish varieties, and they make them in entirely unconventional ways, with a lo-fi and sustainable ethos.
