Kenny is the 'out of hours' project of Pikes senior winemaker, Andrew Kenny. Andrew has always made a little wine on the side, dabbling in a Shiraz way back in 2016 and playing around with some wacky (and not that successful!) skin-contact white experiments during his time at Weingut Gabel in Pflaz, Germany
The side hustle has become a little more serious when, in 2020, Andrew and his partner Victoria acquired an old Kilikanoon Shiraz block planted in 2001. Doing away with herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilisers and fungicides and embracing a wholistic approach to vineyard management has seen this once underperforming block in a state of rude health. The results were so profound that Andrew is now working closely with growers to follow the same practices to ensure a consistent approach to viticulture across all vineyards and regions.
